4. Beamsplitters

The beamsplitter is used in various optical schemes to divide the incident light flux into reflected and transmitted.

The beamsplitters are usually installed at an angle of 45° to the optical axis.

The beamsplitters are manufactured with the use of multilayer dielectric coatings with minimal light absorption. Absorption does not exceed 0.5%


Figure 1 shows the spectral characteristics of long-wave reflecting (Short pass – SP) beamsplitters designed to operate at accident angle of 45° for natural polarization of light for wavelengths 500 nm and 550 nm wavelengths.
